Choosing a Contractor
Choosing the right Contractor can be as difficult a decision as deciding when or if you need to repipe. Your repipe can either go smoothly, taking you off the "never ending treadmill" of repairs, or it can be difficult and costly. It is imperative that you make the right decision. Some things to consider when looking for the right Contractor are:

A. Reliability
How long has the company been in the repipe business?
Do they have a proven "track record" of successful jobs? Is this their main business or an off shoot of another business? Are there Building Managers/Owners who you can contact to discuss their reliability?
Do they use qualified trades people?
Do they maintain a professional conduct?
Do they have sufficient staff to complete the job as scheduled?
Do they communicate effectively with all residents throughout the whole repiping process?
Are they able to clearly answer all your questions and willing to discuss your concerns? Are they available to consult with you at no cost?

B. Bonding & Insurance
Are they a bonded company?
Is their insurance coverage sufficient to handle any incidents which may arise?
Are they licensed to do this work in your municipality? Are they aware of any permitting requirements which may apply?
Do they warranty their work?
Do they have WCB coverage?

C. Sub Trades
Do they have all the necessary tradespeople to return your building to its original condition (i.e. do they have plumbers, painters, tapers, boarders, tilers, etc. on staff). Will there be a lag time between the holes being put in the wall and being fixed - if so, how long?
For security purposes, will these tradespeople be easily recognizable, and are residents being advised as to when to expect them in their suite?

D. Maintenance Contracts
Once the work is completed will the company offer any form of an ongoing maintenance contract to deal with any non-system problems (such as boilers, pumps, motors, fans, heating systems, etc.)
Does their maintenance department have a good reputation?
